Where the fees come from

Every card sale costs a percentage plus a flat fee. On a typical $12 coffee shop sale, here's what one payment costs.

  • Square$0.46
  • PayPal$0.85
  • Stripe$0.37
  • Credit Card Equipment$0.35

On a sale this size, PayPal's flat $0.49 is 58% of its fee, so the per-sale charge matters as much as the rate.

Questions coffee shops ask us

Why do small sales cost more to process?

Most processors charge a percentage plus a flat fee on every sale. On a $12 latte order, a 49¢ per-sale fee is about 4% of the sale before the percentage is even added.

Can customers tip on the screen?

Yes. Clover can show tip options to the customer at checkout.

Do I need a long-term contract?

No. Our plans are month to month with no early termination fee.

Can I keep my current equipment?

Often, yes. Many terminals can be reprogrammed. If yours can't, we'll set you up with a new one.

We work with coffee shops across the country. Your terminal ships programmed, and your agent sets it up with you by phone.
