Card processing for barbershops

Barbershops run on quick, smaller payments. When each sale is small, the flat per-sale fee is a bigger share of what you keep.

The numbers on this page use a typical barbershop sale of $35.

Where the fees come from

Every card sale costs a percentage plus a flat fee. On a typical $35 barbershop sale, here's what one payment costs.

  • Square$1.06
  • PayPal$1.54
  • Stripe$1.00
  • Credit Card Equipment$0.84

On a sale this size, PayPal's flat $0.49 is 32% of its fee, so the per-sale charge matters as much as the rate.

Equipment barbershops use

A pocket reader paired with a phone lets each chair take payment. A countertop terminal at the front gives you one place to see the day's sales.

Questions barbershops ask us

Can each barber take payments separately?

Yes. Clover Go readers pair with a phone, and your agent can set up a login for each barber so you can see sales by chair.

Why do small haircuts cost more to process?

Most processors charge a percentage plus a flat fee on every sale. On a small ticket, that flat fee is a larger share of the payment, so a lower per-sale fee matters more for barbershops than for most businesses.

Do I need a long-term contract?

No. Our plans are month to month with no early termination fee.

Can I keep my current equipment?

Often, yes. Many terminals can be reprogrammed. If yours can't, we'll set you up with a new one.

We work with barbershops across the country. Your terminal ships programmed, and your agent sets it up with you by phone.
